They may be:
- permanent
- semi-permanent
They are made of an alloy of cobalt and platinum cobalt 1/5 and 4/5 platinum) and thus obtained the most powerful magnets. Others are made of alloys of Al, Ni, Fe, Co, Cu. These are 10 times stronger than steel magnets and 100 times stronger than the Earth’s magnetic field.
The power of magnets is expressed in units of Gauss. Earth’s magnetic field is about 0.5 Gauss.
Total lines of force are called magnetic flux.
Gaus or flux density is a line of force per unit area of gender. Accurate measurement is not possible without special equipment. Most commercial magnet is described on the basis of how much power can raise:
LIFT FORCE (N/pounds) | MAGNETIC FORCES (gauss)
1. | 8,90N = 2 pounds | 500 – 600 |
2. | 22,24N = 5 pounds | 900 – 1200 |
3. | 111,21N = 25 pounds | 2000 |
4. | 222,41N = 50 pounds | 3500 – 4500 |
Magnetic forces are classified as follows:
Class | LIFT FORCE (gr) | MAGNETIC FORCES (gauss)
1. | Small | 700 | 300 |
2. | Medium | 2500 | 1000 |
3. | High | 6000 | 3000 |
4. | Super Hight | 12000 | 7000 |
